Mankato, Minnesota
One of the most livable small cities in the United States*
- Mankato, Minnesota, which has easy access to the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area 78-miles away via 4-lane 65-MPH highway, has been rated among the top most livable small cities in the United States*. This attests to the high quality of life in our community. The local population, 60,000 within five miles including college students, is small enough to avoid the magnitude of problems most often associated with many urban and some suburban areas yet is large enough to ensure a wide variety of amenities. The greater Mankato area serves south central Minnesota's regional population, some 260,000+, in providing commercial, higher education, healthcare, retail, and entertainment services.
- There are fewer and fewer opportunities occurring in areas of the country which offer both a satisfying professional career and an excellent quality of life. The Mankato area is one of them. For those who are interested in a progressive community with: a very low crime rate; excellent schools, including two National Schools of Excellence - Minnesota has be named the best state in the country for raising children; several area colleges, one of which hosts the US Annual Nobel Conference; outstanding four-season recreational activities; and many other fine quality of life characteristics then the Mayo Health System in Mankato, MN, is worth considering.
