Immanuel St. Joseph's - Mayo Health System, ISJ-MHS, is a 1,850-employee, physician led, regional medical system based out of Mankato, south central Minnesota. We are located just 78-miles south-south-west of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area via a 4-lane highway, and 85-miles west of Rochester, MN, home of Mayo Clinic.
ISJ-MHS consists of the ISJ Hospital licensed for 272-beds; the ISJ Clinics which includes a regional multi-specialty facility and several primary care clinics/community hospitals throughout the region. The hospital's 180+ active, courtesy, and consulting medical staff includes physicians employed by us; Mayo Clinic physicians permanently based in Mankato, and local independent medical groups.
Over the past several years our Board of Directors has invested tens of millions of dollars in expanding services and facilities. This effort included new facilities for:
- Emergency medicine with heliport on the roof of the facility
- Regional cancer center - radiation therapy and medical oncology services
- Cardiac services up to and including cardiac angioplasty/stent placement
- Same day surgery preparation and recovery
- Women and peds in-patient care
- Behavioral medicine
- Out-patient services including renal dialysis, and cardiac and occupational/physical rehabilitation
- Trauma surgery
- Adult/pediatric neurosurgery utilizing neuro-navigation.
- Significant additions to our imaging capability most recent being a 16-slice scanner
- New Mayo One helicopter which has a range of 500 miles round trip
- Refurbishment of patient care facilities within ISJ Hospital
Our current five-year plan calls for additional significant expenditures to fund further facilities and services expansion. These investments are an indication of our continuous effort to enhance the quality of healthcare offered to the regional population of 260,000+.
